I’m looking up reviews on universities and every college has tons of bad reviews. For every college there is a review that says something like "the student body is horrible. don’t come to this college unless you like to drink and do drugs."
So, what should I believe? Should I let these bad reviews affect my college choices?
Believe your own experiences, and the experiences of people you trust. First of all, you need to go to the colleges, first to check them out in theory, and then after you are accepted and are trying to decide you need to try to go there and bunk with another student for a few days. Most small colleges offer this as an option, usually with hand selected students that are responsible and safe to hang out with.
Second of all, find out who went to those colleges that are alumni from your High School. See if you can write to those students and ask them to email or IM you because you are interested in the college they picked.
Third of all, when you have questions, why not post here under the Higher Education section? Ask about a specific college you are interested in or if you are interested in a specific major, ask a question like "What school should I consider if I want to study _____? Also, don’t forget to search Y/A to see if anyone has already asked the question recently.
People who spend their time complaining about their colleges are not going to be your best source of real information. First of all, if they were good students, they would not waste time trash talking about their college. Second of all, if they were good students AND the college they were attending was as bad as the reviews say, they would be working like heck to transfer to another college, NOT spending precious time complaining on the internet.
So seek answers, not from some anonymous complainer but from people IRL who are in the know, and from people on the internet who are looking to answer questions, not there just to complain. Check the colleges out yourself, and when you are there, don’t just ask yourself whether or not the place has your major, but also see if you could be comfortable there. You are basically picking where you are going to live for the majority of the next 4 years, so make sure you can really get into life there!
I need a second opinion on Zoom teeth whitening.
Based on what you know about it, do you think it is effective?
I have dark yellow stains in between teeth and something else "dysplasia" that my dentist mentioned, I have white spots randomly over more than a few of my teeth. Pretty much, I have different levels on staining on my teeth and wondering if the whitening will even the color out, even if some start out as a darker stain than others.
And what’s the peoper name for the white spots found on my teeth? Does whitening get that stuff out, since it’s NOT really antibiotics/drink/food/smoking stains.
Also been reading reviews saying Zoom is not effective for people white white spots.
Also my Dentist says there is a "Life time gaurantee". Does that mean free retouching in office when necessary? Also, they will send me home with an at home bleaching kit after the procedure. It’ll be $400…let me know your thoughts.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
No I heard something about dysplasia. Also I had braces so that could have been it…the white spots. I want to know if even I start off with different levels of staining , will they come out evened out.
The white stains are just calcium spots. It can be made from many different thing. Either hereditary, after braces, medication that your mom could have taken when she was pregnant, all kinds of different factors.
Zoom does work very well. I dont know about the lifetime guarantee, but no you can not get free touch ups. Or I never heard of that. It works best on yellow stained teeth, and you should probably notice about 2 shades whiter depending on how stained they are. The whitening can not get the spots out, but it can dramatically reduce the appearance of it, by blending in the rest of your teeth. and yes you will get custom made bleaching trays to go home with, and that is how you will do your touch ups.
i dont know what "dysplasia" is. Maybe it was dysthmia that you heard. That is just a space between your front teeth. Not saying that dysplasia is not anything, but i am just not familiar with the term. I have been doing zoom on my patients for 5 years, and they are always happy with the results.
I am planning to buy new home appliances, is there a website where they have reviews and ratings?
A great place I always check is Amazon.com, but I believe that Target.com has some reviews as well.
Where is a good website with a review of the Char-Broil Urban Grill?
Here is a good review of the Char-Broil Urban Grill:
I have seen plenty of movies this year, almost all are well-reviewed movies. My favorite film, by far, has been WALL-E. My goal of this question is not to provide a review and detail why I think it is glorious so I won’t. But there have been a plethora of film critics that have included it in it’s Top Ten movies of the year, 16 of which have made it the BEST movie of the year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WALL-E, http://www.metacritic.com/film/awards/2008/toptens.shtml). Some of the critics are well-known:

Also – A.O. Scott from the NY Times.
While the Golden Globes are set up to distinguish animated films from live actions films, I wonder if the Academy will nominate WALL-E as Best Picture.
Does anyone agree that WALL-E is worthy of an Academy Award nominee?
Do you think animated films get discriminated against?
Yeah summer time is gold for the child market.
Acting is one thing.
A picture is another.
How is it any easier to create an entirely new world with world-like physics that still apply? If anything, it’s much harder to make a great animation flick over a live action flick.
I agree, it does deserve a Best Pic nom. Animated films do get discriminated against, which is sad. I thought WALL-E was great. One reason I’ve always noticed that Pixar movies don’t get much recognition is because they are released in the summer instead of at Oscar time.
My college newspaper refuses to give staffers class credit for film, music, video game, or theatre reviews. If any reviews are submitted, they will go into the Opinion section.
This does not seem to be the norm with newspapers in general.
Any journalists who wish to offer their professional opinion on this are welcomed to respond.
It is of note that this college offers a Journalism degree with a Media Studies emphasis, prepping students for a career in exactly this sort of field, but does not offer any practical experience for this emphasis, but touts "practical experience is the core of our program." Opportunities for experience are offered to the other programs in the major.
Am I, and a couple others, wrong in thinking a well-rounded Arts and Entertainment section, or Culture section, should feature reviews and columns?
I would like to hear a journalist’s perspective on this policy, in addition to anyone who would like to offer their thoughts.
Usually reviews would fall under A&E/Culture/Living/etc., though it’s not unheard of to keep them all under the banner of the opinion section. It’s definitely the exception, rather than the rule.
Not giving credit seems odd, since there’s usually just one unsigned editorial in the opinion section, and everything else is identified, whether as an op-ed or letter to the editor or other opinion piece.
This may be a policy of the paper’s going back for some time, but if you don’t think it makes sense and other writers don’t think it makes sense, take it up with the adviser of the paper, or with the chair of the journalism program or the dean of the department. Your argument is very reasonable, and if enough people want change, it can happen.
Since December 23rd, the App Store on my iPod Touch has been the same. There has been no movement in the "Top 25", both "Free" and "Paid", no added games in the "New" section, and no ratings nor reviews have been updated for any game. It’s been a week with no updates or refreshing!
So…how often does Apple refresh/update their App Store?
when a new app is available to purchase
I have read many reviews of the Samsung Blackjack (SGH i600/i607) and while some reviews say that the Blackjack does indeed have wifi, other reviews go onto deny this feature.
So which versions of the first gen Blackjack do have wifi and which versions dont?
None of the Samsung Blackjack phones sold in the United States have wi-fi. There is a version sold in Canada that has wi-fi and likely this version is also available in other countries. AT&T is supposed to be getting an updated version of the Blackjack under the name Epix which will have wi-fi when it is released.

I am looking for at website that describes typical problems with a certain year and make going back the last 25 years. So that I can look up the different cars that I am thinking about buying. For example what are the typical problems with a hyundai accent from 1995, og with a toyota carina 1987, that people are experiencing.
Thanks
Edmunds.com. Their used car prices are more realistic than KBB as well so it’s a good all around site.
I’m considering making a website based on reviews of itouch apps in the appstore, along with tutorials relating to itouchs. I would just like to make sure I can do this without in any any involving any legal stuff. (copyright, etc.,).
As long as you write the reviews or get permission to copy them, you’re fine. You cannot simply copy reviews from other sites.
