Honda Civic. We recently spent a week in a 2008 Honda Civic GX, the only natural gas vehicle (NGV) available to consumers today, and it didn’t take long to appreciate the range and availability of regular ol’ gasoline. The Civic GX is rated for combined fuel economy of 28 miles per GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent, an NGV standard), but the tank holds just eight GGE. Leaving room for error, then, you have to refill the GX about every 180 to 200 miles. That wouldn’t be as big a problem if compressed natural gas (CNG) were available on every other street corner. The thrust of it, we learned in a typical week of cruising, commuting and grocery shopping, is that you have to plan ahead. The 113-horsepower GX is also slower than traditional Civics, and the extra-large fuel tank eats up all but six cubic feet of trunk space. Still, you can count us in as fans. Our nearby CNG stations are on the pricey side, but we still saved about 30 percent on fuel versus a regular Civic. Factor in solo access to the HOV lane, tax incentives and cleaner emissions, and it’s clear why the 2008Civic GX sold out in the first few months of the year. in europe it’s the …
in europe it’s the LPG , and the tank can be a spare wheel like in its place or a big tube, but much smaller than you have in US.The filing takes about several minutes.Converting the car to LPG will cost you around 1000 dollars, and the gas is half the price of the gasoline

Honda wants to develop more into the idea of a NGV Civic.

I would like to …
I would like to have a Civic GX. I can’t understand why Honda asks $25,000 for it. They build them in Ohio and Indiana and the technology behind it is quite simple.

Probably a cost …
Probably a cost issue, the gx is already expensive as it is, a hybrid system might meake it too expensive.
But it would work quite well actually, the battery pack could probably fit under the back seat so that’s not a problem, and it would help significantly with the range issue.

I have neither and …
I have neither and mine sounds and performs great although it is an Si and not the NGV but still for the price it’s worth it. But I have nothing against muscle cars either, so that said show some love for those that do it different. Although even as the car i have now is my first civic I do think it is silly to put parts on a car that do nothing to enhance performance but then again people are going to spend money on what they want.

1940s’ish?! We drive a larger SUV and my wife rides in back next to our child everyday. No offense, but your video is rather condescending toward a pretty cool car. What we need is Civic GX NG/hybrid vehicle. Why the is that not here yet?

It took me over a …
It took me over a year to get my carpool lane sticker for my car because the stupid, incompetent morons at the California DMV had my car listed as gasoline-powered rather than natural gas powered. The red tape I had to go through to fix this was unbelieveable. At the DMV, I am convinced that they are just running a jobs program wherein they hire a group of bumblers to fix the screw-ups of the other bumblers. Trouble is, you then have to deal with a 3rd lever of bumblers to fix THEIR screwups.
