Should I feel guilty about a bad fake Google business review I wrote out of frustration?

My job is to cold call homes and businesses to qualify leads and drum up interest in solar energy systems, an admittedly terrible way to promote an extremely useful and legitimate product. I’m used to getting blown off by people, happens all the time, but for some reason one garden store manager or owner really pissed me off the way he acted on the phone.

Still fuming about it, I wrote a review on Google saying that their customer service sucks and that no one should ever go there, and it’s the only review on Google about this place. Anyone unfamiliar with the place would now be influenced by my fake review.

On one hand, I feel guilty about doing this since the guy didn’t actually do anything wrong, he was probably busy running his business and feeding his family. On the other hand, he was a complete prick with no professional courtesy toward a fellow businessman simply trying to forward him some information about a product that could help his company immensely.

Am I just overthinking this or did I do something legitimately wrong?

HAHAHA at the "forgiveness" tree. That was really cute :] but I don’t know what the guy said to you on the phone so I can’t say if you were in the wrong or not.

Why did my business review and the other negative comments magically disappear?

Posted by admin on August 2nd, 2010 and filed under business review | 1 Comment »

I reviewed a doctor and part of my review was negative. Others had also written negative reviews. Now, all of the negative comments are gone, leaving two positive comments from an intern and the doctor’s assistant. This is not an accurate reflection. How are these allowed to be deleted? If that’s the case, I will never use the Yahoo! comments again!!

You posted advertising on this site (a.k.a. "spam") and is against the Community Guidelines. Other users reported your comments and were deleted as a result. This can result in the suspension of your Answers account in no time flat.

Can you be sued for leaving a business or service a bad review online?

I wrote of a library: "book stock small and outdated, computers run slow…Librarian kept myself and another customer with young child waiting in queue while she gossiped at desk. She knew we had been waiting for some time, but didn’t hurry to serve us…

Month later I got an email by who I presume was the librarian telling me she sent my comments to the police. It’s been three months and no police contacted me.

Can I be sued for a review like this?

Despite previous comments I want you to understand that you can be sued for just about anything…in a CIVIL court. That doesn’t mean that they’d win, it doesn’t mean it’d even go very far in a court of law, but it does mean that you’d have to pay for a lawyer to work through the process.

This tactic is actually used, quite commonly, by the Church of Scientology in an attempt to silence detractors.

That said, don’t worry about it in this matter. The librarian is a civil employee. She can’t privately sue regarding a city matter. She’d have to kick it up the chain, getting approval from a number of sources, before they even considered taking action. And a city cannot afford either the liability or bad press brought forth by an idiotic lawsuit of this nature.

Hi,
I have started my own business from home, I sell products that help people become healthier and for those who need to lose weight, it does that as well. There are many products to look at.
Now Im not sure as to what kind of healthcare you are looking at but I suggest looking at this great opportunity that was brought to my attention as well.
I have attached the website and also a video that explains it further.
Good Luck with everything!

Why are business reviews so important for SEO? where can i find studies, charts etc?

Posted by admin on June 23rd, 2010 and filed under business review | 3 Comments »

Everyone says business reviews are great for SEO. How? Is there any websites i can go to view charts or studies on this topic?

Hi,
reviews have a few contributing factors:
1) all companies \ brand wish to "control" the top search results. we want the "top results" to show a good reliable successful company
2) people tend to trust word of mouth – reviews show the potential buyer why the should choose us.
3) if the product is new (to you) and you fear you are the first one to test the water; seeing other peoples comment assures you you are not the "guinea pig".

bottom line:
find me -> trust me -> hire me (or buy from me)

Is it harsh to leave a negative review on Yahoo Local for a business.?

This particular alarm company has treated us very badly, harassing us, billing us for time we did not have the service, they charge us late fees, finance fees, and our alarm still does not work, it in fact has never been activated because of faulty sensors throughout the house, that they want us to fix at our own expense. Anyways is it harsh to leave a negative comment?

No not in that case. Sounds right to me

What does the magazine talk about usually?

Most of the articles are business "case studies", many of which have become classic must reads in business schools for decades. The Harvard M.B.A. program focuses on the case study method.

I have Sims 2 Open for Business and my BAKERY got a bad review. I need help, how do you get a good review? I had a cashier on duty, I had a salesman offering deals, I had mostly everything stocked. Where did I go wrong? How do you get a good review? (if there is a cheat that will do to!)

You have to constantly stay with the reporter. It’s annoying, half the time you still get a bad review even if you do everything right.

You can get a cheat for it at http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com
