Medical Coding Certification Exams – What’s the best CPC Exam review guide that worked for you?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2011 and filed under review guide | 1 Comment »

My preferred study & review guide for the medical coding certification is Laureen Jandroep’s CPC Exam Prep ( http://cpcexam.ellsed.com )

As you know, Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is one of the most important credentials awarded by the AAPC, and also one of the toughest exams to pass.

That’s where this review course comes in with a detailed coverage of all subjects. It is structured to reveal the best way to master the coding exam specifics in the least possible time.

It does this through videos, practice tests and real-life preparatory materials that simplify AAPC’s current testing requirements. This, in turn, helps you pass the CPC exam.

Look at it as an A-Z study guide for the medical coding certification exams.

Does anybody review video game guide books?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2011 and filed under review guide | 2 Comments »

I figure that game walkthrough books are just as much a part of the game as anything else. Why don’t somebody review them for grammar, spelling, accuracy, and the like? I have read some guide that have misplaced screen shots, really bad spelling a grammar and some that are really vague on telling you what to do. If the soundtrack, controls, presentation, sound and playability of a game is a factor of how good it is, why shouldn’t the guides be reviewed as well?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Only a small percentage of people buy guides these days, not nearly enough to warrant it. Most review sites offer there own online guides aswell or are part of another site that does. Gamespot.com is also gamefaqs.com. There forums are the same, and they offer there guides. Ign.com has there own guides aswell, so why would the review somebody elses?

Basically not many people put out money for them, so reviewing a product that people don’t buy doesn’t make sense. With so many free online guides and message boards to help you out, that industry isn’t a big thing anymore

Help with chemistry review guide..?

Posted by admin on January 18th, 2011 and filed under review guide | 2 Comments »

I have a chemistry review guide that I have a question on,
could anyone help me?
Using these two points, calculate the slope and y-intercept and write the line equation
(-2.43, 2.43) (-6.86, 3.45)

Looks more like maths than chemistry, but anyway…

To solve this you need to work out the standard formula for a line:

y = mx + c

Where m is the slope and c is the y intercept.

Try our values:

2.43 = -2.43m + c
and
3.45 = -6.86m + c

From the first, c = 2.43 + 2.43m.
Putting that in the second equation:

3.45 = -6.86m + 2.43 + 2.43m

Simplifying:

1.02 = -4.43m
m = 1.02 / -4.43 = -0.23 (to two decimal places)
From above:

c = 2.43 + 2.43m = 2.43 + 2.43(-0.23) = 1.87 (to two decimal places)

So our equation is:

y = 1.87 – 0.23x

Check our values:

When x = -2.43, y = 1.87 – 0.23(-2.43) = 2.43 as required
When x = -6.86, y = 1.87 – 0.23(-6.86) = 3.45 as required

Hope that helps.

Both have 10 practice tests. But which one is better. The blue book does not have answer explanations in the book itself but they are available online.Anyone who has used both please suggest which one is better.
I want to know which book has wuestions closer to the real test. And also which one of the two is harder. I dont mind overpreparing.

Which is better for preparing for the ACT. Which has better study material and is more accurate to the legitimate test? (the books in terms or the practice tests)

I personally have the ACT prep guide and it is pretty useful. It goes over the types of questions that are on the test and gives good tips of what to do and what not to do. There are 3 REAL tests that have been used, a good way to use those test is to try and simulate an actual testing environment so you can be prepared for test day

Which is the best undergraduate Biochemistry review guide?

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2010 and filed under review guide | 1 Comment »

I recently completed the Organic Chemistry series at my undergraduate institution and found the "Organic Chemistry As A Second Language" series by David R. Klein to be an invaluable resource. I am about to start Biochemistry, and I am curious as to what the best review guide for it might be which would be similar in format to the “Second Language” series? I am aware some exist such as “Biochemistry for Dummies” and “Biochemistry Demystified”, but I am concerned by the multitude of negative Amazon.com reviews which repeatedly state such items are filled with factual inaccuracies. Which is the best Biochemistry review guide for my money?
The guide I would be looking for right now would be extra from whatever required text I will have to purchase. Although I appreciate the advice to read whichever text is assigned from class when it begins, it doesn’t really help me in differentiating between the Biochemistry review guides (such as Dummies, Demystifying, Schaum’s, etc.) which exist and indicating which of such would be best and most accurate.

For biochem I just used the study guide & solutions manual that was a companion to the textbook. Most biochem textbooks will have these. A lot of biochemistry is just straight memorization though so you can use online resources. For example, you can memorize the structure of each amino acid by just googling it. Same with the detailed steps and enzymes of TCA cycle, Glycolysis,….it goes on forever. Have fun.

Alg II / Trig Final Study Guide Review Help?

Okay, so i’m taking a final on Monday and basically EVERYTHING that’s on our study guide is on the test. Easy right? Not so much… I have issues with a few problems:

Find the Vertex of the parabola 2x = y^2 – 6y
Answer: (-9/2 , 3)

If f(x) = x+4/2 and g(x) = 2x-4, find g(f(x))
Answer: x

Find sum of infinite geometric series 81+54+36+24+…
Answer: 243

I can’t figure them out. If someone can show me how to solve any of the above, much appreciation. Just sitting here until Monday.. Thanks!
.

The y coordinate (or whichever variable is squared) of the vertex is found, after getting the x by itself (so divide by 2 here)
by the equation y = -b over 2a. So here that is y = -(-3) over 2•(1/2) = 3/1
So then plug in 3 for y and see what x is

g(f(x)) means do f(x) first then replace the x in g(x) with the whole f(x) so it is
([2x - 4] + 4)/2 = 2x/2 = x

Sum of infinite geometric series has to have |r| < 1, and its formula is
a1 /(1 – r)

Here r = 54÷81 = 2/3 so 1 – r = 1/3 and a1 = 81

so 81 / (1/3) = 81 • 3/1 = 243

Good luck and I hope this makes sense
