What is the zoom for a 75mm lens?

Posted by admin on February 10th, 2011 and filed under review zoom | 2 Comments »

So I’m going to but the Minolta Maxxum 50mm AF F/1.7 lens. In a review it said it’s field of view is equivalent to 75mm. How does 75mm convert to magnification? Is it like 5x or 3x or 8x? thanks for the input

you shouldn’t mix the two together. To get the x factor on the lens, you have to divide the largest focal length of the lens, by the smallest focal length of the lens.

a 50mm lens is 50/50=1x lens. It does not zoom in our out.
a kit lens, such as the 18-55mm lens, is 55/18, which is equal to a 3x lens.

Once you enter the world of EVIL/SLR/DSLR cameras, the x factor matters no more. It is all in mm.

now, as for a different type of magnification, the "focal length" of your eye is roughly 50mm, so i would suspect the lens to be a 1x magnification, or somewhere along those lines

What is the best mega-zoom camera out there?

I’ve looked up a few reviews on the internet but I’ve been getting mixed reviews for a lot of them…
Help?

That would be a toss-up between Canon, Nikon, and Lumix.

Canon has the longest zoom, but it has no burst.
Nikon has a burst, but shorter zoom
Lumix has a burst, as long as the Nikon and shots raw; however its 14 megapixel sensor is not as good as its 12megapixel predecessor.

Long zooms advantage is in shooting wildlife or sports. In both, a burst is an advantage. But, in reviews, the Canon has also the edge in image quality. So think it well, do you need the burst, or do you even need the long zooms. If you don’t need the long zoom, the S95 or S90 is the best choice.

Any of the three is a good choice. Perhaps I would choose the Lumix, because it shots RAW; or the Nikon because it has better jpeg than the Lumix. But, maybe not the Canon, eventhough, it has an advantage in the zoom and image quality, just because it has no burst, a function that is an advantage for the need of long zooms.

What is the best digital slr camera under £200?

I really like fujifilm finepix cameras but was wondering if there were any better alternatives. Also it would need a good zoom and good reviews. zoom maybe around 18x.
I would just like any recommendations on a camera between £100-£200 (slr or not!) which can take near proffesional photos!

The camera you quote is not an SLR. A good zoom does not make a good camera. It is about lens quality and the wetware behind the viewer.

What could be wrong with my camera’s zoom?

Posted by admin on November 19th, 2010 and filed under review zoom | 5 Comments »

I’ve got an Olympus Camedia D-535 Zoom, which I’ve had since the spring of 2005, and which, for the last several months, won’t zoom while in photo-taking mode.
The zoom button works fine (you can zoom in on photos in review mode) but if you try to zoom in the photo-taking mode, the camera shuts off.

Sounds like there is a problem with the Zoom motor on your camera. You can send it in to be fixed, but that will often cost as much if not more than a newer better camera today.

So my advice would be to replace the camera. Maybe use that as the reason to get yourself a new one for the holidays.

Good Luck and Happy Shooting

like am i able to capture very wide angles that my picture is big with either lens?

Hey,

Here’s a post called ‘Buying a Lens and all you need to know – http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/11/buying-lens.html

You are really confused heh.

The smaller the number, the wider the lens. So with 18mm, you will get more in your shot than with the 55mm. While at 250mm, you will be able to shoot things that are really far away.

Any thing u would like to tell me about the shoe tips, anythings

Thanks a bunch!

Ever since the show came out, there have been many good reviews on the show itself. With it’s sleek design and low to ground feel, the show makes for one superb overall tennis shoe. Here are many customer reviews from tennis-warehouse.

There are also quite a few nice colorways with this line of the Nike tennis shoe.

12 megapixel camera phone with optical zoom available in UK?

I’ve seen this review of the Samsung SCH-W880 from back in 2009 but it was only available in Korea http://www.cellphone-reviews.co.uk/2009/09/samsung-sch-w880.html

Is there anything like this available in the UK now?

Now apparently known as the Pixon12.

And available through Amazon…

If it’s not the same, it’s a close sibling :-)
