I remember the website had a long list of musicians, and had reviews of their sexual preformance. Anybody know what website it is?

I found one but I don’t know if it’s accurate or not!

Advertising an online literary club/book review website for teenagers?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2011 and filed under website review | 2 Comments »

I am currently building an online literary club/book review website for teenagers. I hope to be able to share books, opinions, and my writing with others interested in literature. Where would I advertise this site to gain interest in this? It is currently under construction, but I would like to have some options in mind for when it is finished.

You need to start contacting other Sites, such as Yahoo Groups like this one
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tomjohnsonspulpworld/?yguid=321995096 or Blogs like this one
Http://pulplair.blogspot.com/ where other authors, artists, and publishers are Members. There are many Review Sites out there, as well as author groups online. Let them know about you, where your Site is, and what you wish to Review. I know the author of the Yahoo Group listed above has a YA novel out that he is looking for reviews for.

how do music review websites make money? or attract alot of people to their website?

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2010 and filed under website review | 2 Comments »

how do music review websites make their money? without selling music downloads or albums. how do i attract people? and what could i do to make money if i started a music review website?

You most likely won’t earn any money from Adsense. The market is so saturated right now that unless you’re seeing 25,000 visitors a month you will rarely be making more than $20 a month. You can make money through your website by:

-Setting up affiliate links to purchase music from another website ($0.50-$3) per sale
-Selling advertising space directly to labels/artists ($?)
-Setting up a paid membership system

The way big music review websites attact visitors is by having good quality reviews, targetting a specific audience, good SEO (search engine optimisation), or good marketing.

Hope this helps!

create review website, need some books to read?

I wanna create a review website like yelp but I don’t know much about programming. What books would you recommend me to look at and follow the steps? Thanks.

Actually, check out Joomla.org and read their documentation. Search for some books about Joomla on amazon.com Joomla is a leading CMS (Content Management Solution) that will allow you to build such an application using modules created by third parties requiring less work from you.

You can also do a search for CMS and decide for your self with Content Management Solution is right for you.

Do you think there are too many hacks on the movie review website rottentomatoes.com?

Posted by admin on December 3rd, 2010 and filed under website review | 3 Comments »

Rotten Tomatoes is a good website for reading movie reviews, but it seems there’s a lot of ‘hacks’ on there who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Mostly, they give poor ratings for movies that aren’t that bad. I know it can be said that these are their ‘opinions’ but to me it seems like they just have poor taste in movies. What do you think?

I actually rate movies at Rotten Tomatoes, & I couldn’t agree with you more. However, my personal opinions on films seem to match the top critics the most, & i’ve seen a few of them who have no clue what they’re reviewing about. But 95% of them do, so no argument from me.

There was one reviewer I despised, he made a horrible review on Ben-Hur (1959). I’m keeping my eye on that douche bag.

How do you make a review website, like yelp?

Posted by admin on November 20th, 2010 and filed under website review | 4 Comments »

I want to be competition and create a website like yelp.

I also want it to be similar to yahoo answers, where people earn points for their reviews.

Is this possible, or will it take 1000’s of dollars?

How do I go about this?

PS. I have never made a website before. But I am very quick to learn, especially when it comes to anything tech-y.

First, you have to purchase web hosting. Go for an established and reliable web host such as the ones recommended on http://buywebspacetoday.com/ and sign up for a shared hosting (regular hosting) plan, as it’s the most affordable type of hosting and has all the features you need for a typical website.

Once you get your hosting, go to your control panel and look for Fantastico. Use this tool for a one-click install of Wordpress, a content management system that will allow you to create pages, write posts, add links, edit the design, and basically do a lot of stuff to create an awesome website.

You can choose a free theme (there are tons to choose from) that goes with your forum’s topic. You can install a free plugin to integrate a discussion forum (I would suggest bbPress). And members can even have their own login and profiles just like yahoo answers.
