I’d say B+, if only for the fact that the rainbow doesn’t make a strong connection to Edison or the what people know about Edison. Also, there’s no information about when or where this even is. Even if this is just a conceptual poster, if the even was real, you’d have to find a way to work that information into the design, which depending on how you choose to display that info, can affect the whole design.

    B+
It is understandable and appealing to the eye. It tells me what the poster is about and what it’s purpose is for – advertising a history night.
Although it could use more imagery e.g An array of Edison’s inventions, not only the light bulb, I think it’s very well done, but it feels bare.

Design projects are a pain in the ass… I have to redesign a book cover this holiday… I haven’t even started. FAIL. Lol good luck with your project.

The general concept is just great. Congratulations. However, I didn’t get the rainbow. If it is supposed to be a rainbow, you can try the accurate colours. If not, try to use no more than five [you can use Kuler to help finding a good swatch - http://kuler.adobe.com. You did great with the main title, but you could do better with your text. If you need some inspiration, try this site [http://www.designshard.com/inspiration/inspiring-grunge-style-big-typography-posters/].
I hope it helped. Have a nice day.

    I really like it! A-
I think the rainbows could symbolize light & ideas b/c many of his inventions had to use light.
I like simplicity of design; I don’t think it would look as good (esp. if advertising) if the poster was too "busy".
    Good job! :)
