Which 10x digital cameras shoot the best picture and movie in low light?

I am looking for a 10 mpixel camera with a10x (or higher) digital zoom that that does a good job of taking photos and hd videos in low light. I would like to spend less $350. I only found one review discussing a camera’s low light abilities. That review had good things to say about the new a Panasonic except it was critical of of performance in low light.

I would suggestion these are good quality 10x digital cameras (has HD movie recording) :

Nikon Coolpix S8000 : 14.2MP, 10x wide-angle optical Zoom, 3.0-inch VGA (921k-dot) Clear Color Display, 720p HD movie recording, Creative Slider creates pictures, 4-way VR Image Stabilization System, etc. (Announced : February, 2010)

For a Sony DSC-HX5V has a Exmor R" CMOS sensor for stunning low-light performance.

Sony DSC-HX5V : 10.2MP, 10x optical zoom, 3.0 inch LCD, "Exmor R" CMOS sensor for stunning low-light performance, iSweep Panorama Mode captures stunning panoramic images, Fast capture with 10fps, 1080i AVCHD Movie records high-quality HD movies, etc. (Announced : January, 2010)

Low light performance in point and shoot cameras is the weak link. I have several point and shoots. All are canon. The A710is, the A2000is, and the sx10is. The sx10 is a 20x optical zoom. The others are 6x. All shoot the 640×480 video. A DSLR will always out perform all point and shoots because of the size and quality of the bigger sensor. If you want good low light quality video, then invest in a good video camera, not a digital camera.

Today’s digital cameras have increased the video resolution, and indeed it does look better but, it’s still not true HD as a video camera is. It’s just a modest increase in resolution. That’s why when the sx20 was released by Canon, I chose not to upgrade from my sx10. The video resolution was indeed increased, but not enough in my mind to warrant spending $400 for.

I am contemplating investing money in a quality video camera. This will give me true HD video. I’ll probably receive thumbs down regarding my comments about resolution in digital cameras but, I’m a big boy and can take it. For those who do thumbs down me, I ask if you did any research on professional photographers feedback?

You can learn a great deal by reading what the pros have to say, not just anybody who says "gee, I think this is great." There are guys who have been photographers for decades. I read their feedback closely, and their knowledge based on education and experiences comes shining though.

    EDIT:
Point and shoots do provide night capability but, since the sensor is smaller than a dslr, the pictures are generally noisy. Mine have "night scene" "night snapshot, and "auto high" settings. Some come with 1600 and 3200 iso settings. You will have an image but, smaller sensors yield noisy pictures.

I still say that if you want "high quality" low light performance, you want a dslr, not a point and shoot. High def video & quality low light performance? Buy a quality video recorder.
