Reviews: Metroid Prime, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Gangstar, …

Posted by admin on September 15th, 2009 and filed under company reviews | 24 Comments »

There’s been a lot of Metroid in the gaming world lately. Games that are inspired by and a resurfacing of the classics. We all know how JayFresh was introduced to the Super Nintendo versions last week and now, it seems, the Super Nintendo has sunk its claws into him and won’t let go.

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM REVIEW
In a near-perfect representation of the Batman universe, Arkham Asylum offers up far more game than anyone thought possible. Ryan, Matt, and JayFresh have, admittedly, a bit of a love-fest over what’s really the best Batman game to date.

GANGSTAR: WEST COAST HUSTLE REVIEW
The iPhone may very well be more powerful than developers realize. This game proves that not only can you bring a near-GTA experience to the iPhone, but that it can be done with controls that are fairly intuitive and with gameplay straight out of the early PS2-era. It was a surprise to both Jason and Cesar that such a game even existed, but, as they mention, it’s not without its flaws.

METROID PRIME TRILOGY REVIEW
Perhaps it would have been more awesome to have a new Metroid Prime, but re-releasing the entire trilogy, complete with improved, Wii controls a la Corruption is nothing to sneeze at. Ryan and special guest Torrey Holbrook Walker (you may recognize that name from our music credits) step out into the depth of night in order to discuss the finer points of what makes this series so particularly special.

Reviews of Shadow Complex, Little King’s Story and more.

Posted by admin on September 11th, 2009 and filed under company reviews | 7 Comments »

Little King’s Story provides an adorable grind to world domination while Shadow Complex and Wolfenstein takes old ideas and adds a new coat of paint. Check out gameplay reviews, footage and more!

——————————

Drawing obvious inspiration from games like Metroid and Castlevania, it’s debated whether Shadow Complex is an homage or rip-off. David Ellis and Dan Hsu came by to discuss with Matt and Cesar that while this revamped side-scroller may feel familiar, it’s scope and gameplay make it one of the best downloadable games of the year.

We also tread familiar waters to check out Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone. Does shooting Nazi’s (in the standard forms of, soldiers, zombies, and skeletons) in corridors blend well with role-playing elements? Ryan and Cesar take a break from laundry to discuss.

Matt’s been taking over the world one territory at a time in Little King’s Story for weeks. This Pikmin-like adventure looked simple at first but ended up spanning over dozens of hours of invading, building, and decorating in service of building a new kingdom. Anthony Gallegos and Alice Liang join Matt to chat about whether the task ended up being more than they bargained for.

Classic Game Room reviews GRAND THEFT AUTO 2 for Playstation

Posted by admin on September 4th, 2009 and filed under auto review | 25 Comments »

This isn’t a new GTA review for the PS3 or Xbox 360… this is 1999! Classic Game Room season 1 – December 8, 1999.

Back in the day before Game Room had a green screen, lighting or a real microphone they reviewed GTA2 for the PS1. Too bad they didn’t get to review GTA Vice City, San Andreas, GTA3 or… but maybe, just maybe someday they will.

This was their 2nd episodic review and the GTA series is now one of the most profitable of all time. You play a thug, gangsta low life criminal and it’s fun!!

Classic Game Room was the first classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999 and 2000. They reviewed Atari games, Sega Genesis, NES, N64, Nintendo, Jaguar and PSX (ps1) games. The story of the show is on DVD and available at Amazon.com

Classic Game Room HD – GRAND THEFT AUTO VICE CITY review PS2

Posted by admin on August 22nd, 2009 and filed under auto review | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of GRAND THEFT AUTO VICE CITY for the Playstation 2 video game console! CGR-HD will review GTA soon, we can’t wait for Grand Theft Auto, or any other way you can spell it. But in the meantime Vice City is the best game in the series. You play as Tommy Vercetti in this Scarface meets Miami Vice episode alternate reality full of exploding cars, beautiful women in bikinis and tanks that are easily stolen and driven around city streets. Rockstar Games GTA series has been one of the best gaming series of all times, open ended alternate reality with complete out of control lawlessness. What makes this game even better is the tremendous 80’s pop music soundtrack featuring Flock of Seagulls, Michael Jackson, Gary Numan, The Cult, David Lee Roth, Human League, Disco, Funk, Rap, early hip-hop, latin music… but no Duran Duran!? Vice City is one of the best games ever made for the PS2. The new GTA IV will be coming out for PS3, Xbox 360 and maybe Atari 2600. 3 great game systems to get it on. Will the PS3 and Xbox have downloadable content, extra levels, cities and more features? Who can say…?

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. Wii, PS3, Xbox 360. Liberty City Stories. Download levels, new level design. Psp.

Classic Game Room HD – GRAND THEFT AUTO SAN ANDREAS review

Posted by admin on August 21st, 2009 and filed under auto review | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of GRAND THEFT AUTO SAN ANDREAS for the Playstation 2 video game console PS2. As we all await GRAND THEFT AUTO on the Playstation 3 PS3 we can blow up the entire world created by Rockstar Games in this amazing part of the GTA series. You are CJ, thug gangsta hustler who starts out in Ganton and rises to the top like Scarface meets Boys in the Hood. San Andreas is known for it’s amazing soundtrack (like Vice City) featuring rap and hip hop artists like Eazy E, NWA, Ice Cube, Slick Rick, Tupac and Gangstarr just to name a few. The great tunes of the 90’s like Soundgarden, Helmet, Alice in Chains, Billy Idol and Rage Against the Machine are there as well to fill your radio dial with angst as you mercilessly wipe out the cities of Las Venturas, Los Santos and San Fiero.

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD.
