Please can the Top Answerer’s and the Top Contributors respond to this post?

There are ten Top Answerers in the dog section and I am sure that they are fairly knowledgeable. What I cannot understand is why other answerers have failed to overtake them. In this I do not doubt the T.A. abilities; however I find it strange that the list of T.A’s appears to have remained unchanged for several months. Does Yahoo review this?

I will confess to being an addict to Q&A’s, nevertheless how do the top answerers cope. In theory, they must answer more questions than I do, how do they cope with exercising and training their dogs and still spend hours answering questions. Do they in fact have dogs? Perhaps like me, they have lost their last dog, however some of them must still have dogs to walk and train.

I have another question about Yahoo questions and answer’s. Although I appreciate that Yahoo has no control if the answerer has access to several computers. It would appear that with just one computer an answerer can vote for themselves. I have always thought that the best answer should be the answer that has the most “thumbs up”. Now I realise that people can ask their friends to give a question the T.U. Is there a way to resolve this?

Sorry I have another question.
I answer questions on a regular basis and because we read the same questions over and over again, I save my answers, then copy and paste them to save time. I know that the other regular answerers will be bored by the answers from “my archives”. However my thoughts are, that most of the askers are “here today and gone tomorrow”. My apologies to the regulars who will be fed up with the answers pasted from “my archives”.

I must admit that I admire the “Top Answerers” who have a small % of Best Answers. I feel that their answers are genuine; consequently they have no need to rely on their friend to vote for them.

Hi Dorothy. I’m a top answerer and confess to spending FAR too much time on here. Yes, I do have dogs – 4 of them and I work. I don’t go much on housework though!
My dogs are groomed – at the moment, that’s a lot of work as I have 2 double coated breeds and plenty of mud around however, they are not bathed or clipped or faffed around with. My dogs are trained, not every day but I go to training one night a week (Monday evenings, you’re safe from me on YA!) My dogs are exercised, when I have a sit down after walking them, I’ll sit down at the computer. I don’t watch much TV these days, I’d rather waste my time at the PC than watching some mindless soap or reality TV. However, I don’t waste my time voting for myself, or giving myself T.U – I’m really not that sad! I quite often answer Qs with answers I know the asker (or other answerers) won’t like.
I don’t always agree with your answers, but respect them because you are obviously anewering from your own experience – just as I do & I know you don’t always agree with me!
In answer to your 1st question, I don’t believe that TAs is updated very often, although I think I’ve slipped down a place. Not sure whether it covers just the UK site, all english speaking or the world?

    Are you serious? Really?

Who cares! This is only meant to be entertainment. If people have REAL problems then they should consult a professional. Lighten up……

Altho im not a top contrib… i can relate to reposting a n answer.. because it is deff the same questions being asked usually by different people so i too have no problem with reposting a previous answer i left for someone else! <3 its not boring to reread them to me either.. Raising a dog is done by LAW not by THEORY… its repetition and the more we repeat the more the world will learn!.. <3 as for your other questions i apologize i dont have the answers! buh i feel like everyone here that answers questions.. n answers them from the heart.. truly care and want others to learn… their ’status’ means nothing to me… <3

I’m sorry, but you did realise this is just a website to help a few people, not a career?

I’m not one of them, but who knows.

Some of them have been on here for YEARS. I’ve always thought that its not the # of quesitons you answer, but the % of BA that puts you on the board.

There is at least one **coughs** that has multiple accounts and votes for herself through the different accounts…that and she feeds the ignorant dumbasses exactly what they want to hear. So, knowlegde and being a responsible dog owner, might have nothing to do with being a BA.

As for yahoo actually investigating and checking into it…yeah, good luck on that.

I don’t know or I have to say care who is TA/TC, no idea if YA review……..I come on to answer questions if I can help and because I spend my early part of the day out working and with my dogs, when I am on the computer doing the accounts, writing, researching, answering emails or the numerous other things in the afternoon….I often slip into YA as a break(some break)…in the evening if I am watching TV I will also answer as I am not good at just sitting and relaxing.

I own 10 dogs, train, work and walk them daily….Oh and 7 of them are poodles, 3 in show trim and I do that as well as work.

I find that like anything, there are different solutions for different dogs/people, some of the best answers ( in my opinion) get lots of TD. The only time I TD is if someone answers and it could be potentially lethal to the dog if the questioner took the advice( eg.one advised giving the pup cooked chicken bones) and I have noticed that some answerer’s plead not to be TD as they feel they are followed by ‘the TD fairy’ There are many answers I will TU as insightful even if it is not my style of training/behaviour. Why would you want to ‘resolve’ it? People ask a question, others answer, it makes no different if others TD or TU, it is just their opinion or kids who are bored.

‘Archive’ answers: if it suits the question and answers it for the questioner that is what matters.

"they have no need to rely on their friend to vote for them" an ah ah moment! Sorry I am being a bit slow…………long day for me today, well a long week. I answered a question this last week about ‘they knew their was cheating on YA dog section’ I answered "how can you cheat when someone asks a Q and someone else answers" now I understand why it was said……….however why? You don’t increase your salary, recieve a bonus, cut your bills down, you don’t increase your knowledge/learning or anything except a % figure on YA why would someone feel they need to vote for themselves or their friends.

Think that is all you asked

Dorothy, longevity is the reason I am TC.
I began shortly after Y!A began, and just kept on keepin’ on. (4 years this month)
For us in the dog world, our families soon tire of hearing about our favorite topic, and this provides an outlet for sharing.
There are many who are qualified to ‘overtake’ some of us on the list, but they just don’t stick with it.

I only answer a few per day, now..However, I used to answer about 60 daily. I’m a retired nurse, who is used to working the night shift, so I have trouble sleeping. I used to answer late at night, when not many other answerers were on. As Y!A became more global, there are good answerers around the clock, now, so I answer far fewer.

I still have 5 dogs. For years I managed a dozen, ( and more) and had to hire help. I have plenty of time to care for the 5.

It is permissible and not against the rules to vote ONCE for your own answer. However, when I see that someone else has a better answer, I vote for them. A large percent of my BAs are chosen by asker.

As I have been here for so long, I have a large fan base.( 166736 fans!) It really bothers me when I have voted for another’s great answer, and yet my fans have voted mine as BA.

I used to keep a cut/paste selection of the frequent questions.. I rarely use that base now, except for such as house-training or biting puppies. If I went back to answering 60 per day, I would certainly use those stock answers..as the basic answers to basic questions don’t change.

I always wondered how someone can have so many BA when you have a life..I am busy and go on and off but I usually just answer Q that my contacts ask lately..I don’t bother with checking back on questions as again it takes up to much of my time.If someone does’nt like my answers than to bad..Then on your 3rd question if I see the same question over and over I pass it by unless it means the life or death of a dog and answer appropiately..

I have learnt as i have gone along i answer 250 questions a week in my 3 sections my dog was put to sleep but i do have 4 children and answer in between caring for them and at night when they are in bed

If people want to ask others to do that fine i vote for my own answers yes i do I’m guilty of that i give my self 1 vote for best answer if it goes into voting like every one else does

i seem to answer the same questions and end up typing the same thing maybe i should think about copying and pasting my answer if its relevant as that would save time

In pregnancy section i have a lot of contacts we tend to give each other best answers that is how that section works

I used to be a TC when I spent 12 hours a day sitting in an ambulance and was afraid of getting robbed or shot leaving my house. Most of my answers are through my iPhone or WAN modem so I don’t have to worry about being tied to a home connection. Since returning to school it turned into a choice of maintaining and raising my 3.0+ GPA and walking my pups constantly or a TC badge dealing with clueless people who ask the same question that was asked in the previous post… buh bye TC badge lol

I still like to drop in but have no intention or getting the badge back, I’d rather be honest and sincere with sincere and appropiate questions.

Like Chetco, I’ve been a member of this forum for a long time (Dec. 2005), and picked up my ranking back when they first started doing rankings. I used to answer questions primarily at work (call it "multi-tasking"). Don’t have dogs at work.

Rankings *are* based on numbers of BA, as opposed to simple answers. Some people cheat, some people are addicted, some people have just been around for awhile. TUs have nothing to do with BAs, unless the asker uses them to choose the BA.

I’m very rarely on any more…sometimes on the weekends (like now). I’m sure it won’t be long before someone overtakes me!

Just got done running three teams…time to go feed.
